Hi
Doing the math, to have a 6ms response time it would have a 166Hz refresh rate (1/.006). Does this actually accept that as an input or is it still 60Hz like all the other LCD monitors claiming less than 16ms response time?

Response time does not reflect refresh rates.

It's the amount of time a pixel takes to change it's state, not the amount of changes it will accept. It will spend the remaining 10ms in its changed state.

This monitor like most other LCDs, is limited to a 60Hz input.

While it may be possible to build a panel that accepts a 160Hz input, the video processor, cabling standards, video formats, & video cards are not designed to handle that high of an output.

Also, in theory, blah blah blah right.

Even a 2ms TN panel is limited to 16.7ms minimum because of the 60hz. No numbers ever given by a manufacturer for LCD are true.

This monitor probably lags between 25-85ms real world.

I have the Samsung 2233RZ though. 120Hz is great.

Hey Greg, now that i have more experience with LCDs, id really like to see the 120hz LCD in action. Compared to IPS, TN, CRT. Motion blur specifically.

If they've still got a 3D vision demo model up in the stores. See if they'll let you switch the refresh rate between 60Hz and 120Hz. Just move the mouse around a bit to see the difference.

Kind of an old thread, but I feel I have to clear something up here based on what Jake said (and I'm putting off writing an essay at the moment).
Greg already touched on this:
Yes, a 60Hz monitor will receive new data every 16.7ms, and no faster. However, the response time is the amount of time after receiving that data that it takes to actually change the pixel to reflect that new data. You could see how this could become complicated when it takes longer to go from a black to white than a grey to "slightly-different-grey." That is why it is important to have a sufficiently low response time - even well below 16.7ms.

Maybe if they called it "delay" instead of "response" it would make more sense. (But then that might be too close to "input lag" which is something entirely different.)
