Whats your motherboard? That plays a huge difference in performance depending on your motherboard's sata controller. Like my motherboard, it only has the marvell controller, so performance is crap compared to ones with the intel controller.

p6x58d premium with a marvel 9123? controllor

even then.. i should be getting MUCH higher than 220mb/s read
this is a joke as far as im concerned, 400$ waste.

x58 marvell controller is ****. You probably get better performance on the SATA2 controller.

Any ssd you buy will be bottlenecked if it's your marvel sata controller

So fix that first.

It's not the drive Einstein, it's your SATA controller.

In case it hasn't been made clear by others (you missed it once), the SSD isn't performing well because of your motherboard.

pretty sure your reply is against the TOS.. so why dont you leave before i ask someone to intervene with your arrogance/smugness

i may be bitter about my situation but not once did i try to take a jab at anybody.

I have almost the exact motherboard, the P6X58D-E, and it is your motherboard. My Mushkin Chronos DEluxe 240gb, also has about 200-250mb writes speed. Instead of returning a $400 drive, you should get a different mobo instead.

theres nothing worth getting that will maintain my 4.2ghz overclock =(
im left holding the bag of having to spend 1000+ to get the "advertised" speeds.

Looks like your drive is getting advertised speeds

Max Sequential Read
Up to/ 550 MB/s (SATAIII)
Up to 280 MB/s (SATAII)

Max Sequential Write
Up to 520 MB/s (SATAIII)
Up to 260 MB/s (SATAII)

at sataIII and getting 220mb/s write and 325mb/s read is most deffinatly NOT advertised speeds.

also less than 10k iops at 4k
its quite disgraceful.

Says UP TO, so it is advertised, this isn't NCIX's fault, but more of Intel.

No matter how mad you are it still wont change the fact that the marvel controller is holding you back. The advertised speeds say "UP TO" , no where does it guarantee those speeds if used with a crappy sata controller.

never once implied it was ncix's fault
bit pissed at intel.... Real pissed with asus
and at the point im seriously considering feeding 220 directly into my mobo as an excuse to buy a new mobo/cpu/ram combo.

If you're wrong and you use vocabulary like "****ing joke" about a product, you should expect people to show you where you got it wrong. Just now you said you're pissed at Intel for something that's completely out of their control. The SSD could have infinite read/write speeds and you'd get similar "unsatisfactory" results.

Its not asus fault that intel didnt have a native sata 3 controller back then. Asus picked the best option they had at the time.

And it's not Intel's fault that they didn't have that technology. Overall, everything can be avoided by knowing the products you're using.

actually i do kind of blame asus, they grabbed the First sata3 controller, the board was revised less than 2mo later as the -E series with a 9128 controller from which i read is Much better than the 9123....
either way im still entitled to my Own personal dissatisfaction with the performance #'s at hand and the price at which they cost me.

Never said it was intels fault either. The OP is passing blame everywhere but where it belongs. A little research would gone along way to avoiding this problem.

My Intel 520's on my Asus M/B dissagree with you. I say send that 220 through if that will help you.

a) like i care this is ncix i just buy *****here.
b) i did do my homework... on the drive.. did my homework on mobo 2yrs ago when i bought it.

im happy to admit an oversight on my part of not rechecking the controller

like i had previously stated, i may be bitter and angry with faceless corporations... but its just that... blind anger. (getting angry at oneself does not lead to solutions, merely self destruction.)

but the insulting nature ive been met with on a multitude of accounts now... speaks highly to your own character.

my i7 920 is getting a little tired these days. time to clock it back from its 4.2 and pass it on to someone else
