I picked up a pair of these for a server upgrade, so here's the results of raw vs zeros testing in Crystal Diskmark with the current 2.15 firwmare:

The impressive part about these #'s is how close the random 4k scores are compared to the zeroes (which mainly reflects the performance of the Sandforce controller's compression engine). Here's my historical #'s on a 120GB model (firmware 2.11) for comparison:

I still have this 120GB drive around, I may retest as I have a sneaking suspicion that a recent BIOS update  for my AMD SATA3-based motherboard improved the random 4k QD1 scores which always used to test lower than my other AMD SATA2-based platform & Intels. This 240GB drive also produced the highest PCMark05 HD score I've seen to date, at 84,763. My historical data on the 120GB model was 81,939 with firmware 2.11 (120GB Agility scores are basically identical to an equivalent Solid 3, which scored 81,261 on 2.15).

yeah, OCZ is blacklisted among almost every person i know. i also dont recommend them for people who ask me for build advice in my neighbourhood (which is quite a few people). not because of the possibility of OCZ being sold or whatever, just because many of my past OCZ products have had problems (2 PSU, 2 SSD).

thanks for the data though Lsi, I appreciate your numbers every time you post them :)

I picked up a Vertex 3 120GB for $50 on black friday no rebates... canadian retaler too, so imo $169.99 for agility 3 is not a very good deal.

I too don't normally like OCZ, but the price drew me in. Haven't seen a fast 120GB ssd at that price without a mir.
