This keyboard needs more attention given to it IMHO. Among the long list of features this keyboard is packaged extremely well and I think it would make a good unboxing video. Just an idea.

There's even a "that's what she said" in there so you know it has the refined Linus humor on its side.

This keyboard looks amazing! I was thinking of waiting for the G710 from logitech to come in stock, but i think i'll actually be taking this keyboard instead. The only question i would have is if the wrist rest could be detached (i usually hate them XD)? And for 20$ less, i'll even be saving a bit of money :P

This Keyboard is amazing! Yes the wrist rest can be removed. The only thing that should be made available as an option is the choice of Cherry keys. Personally the reds that are used are great. Others I know, especially those that are particular about their keyboards, will want the option to use other keys.

By the way, thanks Coach for this thread, as had you not made it, i would have probably never found out about this keyboard. I just made up my mind and decided to buy it ^^. It should arrive this week, can't wait!

your welcome!

I am not sure why Linus and Slick have not made any mention of this keyboard because they are both mechanical keyboard guys (aside from the fact that they are both busy and do not get to everything). I mean this keyboard is completely matte in finish and Slick would appreciate that. It is backlit, all keys are mechanical, usb 3.0 etc etc. In fact, AFAIK this is only one of a very few mechanical keyboards that offer a usb 3.0 port! So ya, as everyone can tell I love this board and I am glad that bringing attention to it has helped someone decide to buy it.

yea i totally aggree with linus doing an unboxing video.

i bought this keyboard yesterday at the vancouver store. i walked around and took look and feel of all the keyboards on display.

i planned on either purchasing the k60 or k90 but the second i saw it in person i changed my mind right away. those keyboards are cheapppppppppppp same thing with alot of other ones.

the build quality of this gigabyte osmium is much better. the thing wieghs over 1 kg, that alone tells you that its built like a tank.

hands down this is probably the best keyboard out there and i price matched it at $112 too which was a bonus

Yeah i live in Australia and i bought this keyboard late november and i absolutely love it! Best Keyboard in the world imo. Whats not to love, Cherry MX Reds, USB3.0, extremely rigid design, sexy looks, n-key rollover, gold plated ports, thick braided cord, 5 gaming keys, software, macro programmable keys. And Linus DEFINITELY needs to unbox this bad boyy. I want to see his reaction :D

Anyone having the 'key bounce' issue?

http://hothardware.com/Reviews/Gigabytes-Osmium-Keyboard-Great-Design-Flawed-Execution/

If not, I'm definitely leaning towards getting this keyboard.

I'm not having that issue at all, however I imagine it all depends on your typing style.

I wouldn't say there is an issue with key bounce, but rather it has Red MX switches that are mounted pretty high and have a very light touch.

I have this board and find I don't use it much as for me it is not a good all around board and I tend to stick with a Brown switch Filco. Much easier to type.

One thing you might want to check out is the new Logitech G710 with the damped Brown switches. I've used it as well and it's pretty nice feel except that it's really ugly and looks like it was designed by 12 year olds on Ritalin.

I bought this keyboard not quite a month ago, and I have not had the "key bounce" issue described (I have had other issues though, so I would still recommend against this keyboard, but not for that reason.)

When I first got this keyboard, there was a firmware update  for it, v94, which for some reason now doesn't seem to be available for download on Gigabyte's site. I installed it right away when I got it. Perhaps that issue was fixed with the firmware. I believe you can still get the firmware if you post for help on Gigabyte's Aivia troubleshooting forums: http://www.aivia.gigabyte.com/

I have a feeling they removed the firmware for general usage because people were messing up the firmware installation, and causing the keyboard to be bricked, so they only give it out when someone complains about a specific problem the firmware addresses.

I was going to get this until I heard about some of the various issues. Went with the CM Storm Trigger instead with MX Browns and loving it.

Couple of my friends have the cheaper Cooler Master model and they're top notch as well, the Quickfire TK.

Wrist wrest can be quite useful on mechanical keyboards, which tend to rise much higher off the desk to accommodate for the mechanics.
