I have crossfire 6970s and they dominate anything i've thrown at them (haven't tried Crysis 3 mind you). 6950s are not far behind the 6970s...

Depends I guess on the cost. I would get a used 6950 and CFX it

I would get a 6950 CrossFire setup, it beats the 7970 in terms of performance.

depends. If your 6950s are the 2GB version, then I guess you could do it. However, I'd upgrade if you have the 1GB version.

Crossfire would give you better performance, until you want to plug your old card to some other PC.. http://greenavis.com/

I have 2 6950 2GB in crossfire.

One thing you should be aware of with crossfire is not all games support it.. Most popular games do but often it's added as an after thought.

With a single card you never have this issue.

Having said that, the 6950's scale well and I can play most games with pretty high settings on a 30" monitor at 2560 x 1600 resolution.

Looks like Crysis 3 does support crossfire, you just have to manually select  the profile through CCC
