If you are ever in Fredericton you should try the Garrison Irish Red. You can also go right to the Picaroons brewery or w.e it is, and get whatever is fresh. I normally like their seasonal stuff. I suggest giving St. Ambroise a go. Great Stout.

Also +1 for Fullers Honey Dew.

Don't know how I missed having that one on the list. It's excellent as well.

For anyone in Newfoundland, if you're in St. John's there is a place on Water Street called Yellow Belly's. Highly recommend them as well. They make several brews on site, and I believe they sell take home in Growlers. We were leaving next day so I didn't have that opportunity.

Here is what I am trying tonight.

This beer is unique. The head is so thick and creamy. I have never had anything close to it. The rich color gives this beer added character. I will have this again because it is so different... I wish Sleeman would make a variation of their Honey Brown with this kind of texture mouth feel. That would be a great combo IMO.

This is my beer of choice for the evening. Nice Amber. Not too heavy with a nice finish.

I was hesitant to post this because I don't want the price going up...but I do like my fellow NCIX forum goers.

Belgian Trappist (only 6 Trappist breweries in the world). High alcohol content (10%). My other favorite is Trappist Rochefort 8 and Trappist Rochefort 10. All can be found at the legacy liquor store in the Olympic village in Vancouver, or ordered (by the case only) at BCLS (about $110 per case).

Careful. Two of these and you're having a good time too...though that's not why you drink this kind of beer.

My refreshment of choice for this evening. Trying one of the Garrison products. Brewed in Halifax. All natural with no preservatives.

due to the outrageous nature of how beer is sold in ontario (look into the beer store)
i've essentially stopped buying anything from the big players. i'd much rather go to the lcbo, and put together a little "variety pack" of tall cans, from some of the smaller independent brewers. the other issue due to lcbo/beer store structure, is there's not usually much craft beer from outside ontario. nevertheless, there's usually some good ones. a couple i've enjoyed lately:

amsterdam nut brown ale (toronto)
brick waterloo dark (waterloo)

I had a bunch of single bottles on the weekend. mostly dark lager's, Japanese, German and some other one, can't remember and then a bitter beer, it's the only one I remember, because it was called Bloody Swine or something. Not bad for a bitter.

A nice beer for summer. Not too heavy with a nice finish. Another of the organic beers from Picaroons.

I'll fail to post images if i try, so you guys use your imagination (and google-fu).

Absolute best ? St-Ambroise Oatmeal stout. But yeah, it's got "meal" in it's name for a reason. You won't drink 5 of these during a Sunday BBQ ;)

It's slightly better, to me, than it's direct Irish counter part, the Guinness.

Honorable mention to the Kilkenny. What can i say ? i love nitrogenated beers !

For chilling out with friends, Newcastle, Grolsch, Hoegaarden, or even plain old Molson Ex

And for hockey nights? Def Molson Ex.

I just thought the easiest way to do this was take a pic of my beer fridge and upload that. All of them are good and kept at +2 degrees.

The ones with white caps are the last of the beer I used to make. Cold filtered and cold carbonated. Too bad they went out of business

Sure come on over hehehehe. All good non pasteurized beer. and when that runs out I have plenty of Tequila to go with the mix that snuck into the pic.

I really do recommend that Dark & Stormy Night. Truly delicious!

Edit: Just noticed that the Picaroons Blonde isn't showing. It's one of the beers in the door.

In a year or two I wanna take the family on a trip to explore the east coast. Normally we head west because of family in BC but we want to make a point of heading East at least once. I should really make a point of stopping in at a micro brewery or two if that kind of thing is permitted.

There are several here, many of them have restaurants attached, depending on what part of Atlantic you are looking to visit. Just off the top of my head there are combos in Yarmouth N.S., Charlottetown PEI, Yarmouth N.S. Moncton N.B., Saint John N.B., Halifax N.S., and St. John's NL. Some bottle their beer, and sell in the local liquor stores. Some only sell on site through growlers., but either way you can enjoy some good food and some really good micro beers.

Make sure you bring a good cooler. These beers all need to be kept cold. They don't do well in the warmth.

Tried some Kilkenny last night, and I think th is may have also found a home in my beer fridge stock. At this rate I'm going to need a bigger fridge. :(

I will certainly revisit Kilkenny when I get the chance.

As for more beer I have tried, last night I had Innis & Gunn. The flavor level was at a 11 out of 10. Again, this was a first for me as it was certainly unique... Here is a dimmly lit pic.

Overall I have to say that I am rather surprised not to have found more duds in the beer that I have been trying. There is one Beer though that I will avoid. In fact I still have one left and I will post about it later.

Just now I sat down and composed my last post... got me thinking.. why not try another beer right now! It is 28C and feels like 37C with the humidex. We are under a severe thunderstorm watch here in Southern MB and I am sitting in nice cool AC.

I selected Tyskie. It is not bad. It is clear, has no head and no lacing. As far as taste I liken it to a decent light pilsner. I guess the bottom line is that there are other beers I would rather have but TBH right now it hits the spot.

You guys have me tempted with those delicious east coast beers, I'm going to have to head into firefly fine wines and ales down the road from my apartment and see if they have them in stock.

That store carries over 1000 different beers in their cooler, I can get lost in there

Edit : Also after seeing this article I've sworn off the now Diageo branded products.

Sitting here sipping a Picaroons Blonde with dinner. It's a light beer colored beer but has kind of a sharp aftertaste with rather a strong hop finish. Good, but not one of my favorites.

For folks in N.S. that are thinking about trying PIcharoons or Gahan, ask first before buying, as the liquor stores there do not always store/display them cold and believe me they are not drinkable if they aren't.
