mmmm beer. I just bought a 12 of Sleeman Honey Brown. I like it and here is a pic I just took.

Recently I finished watching Oz and James Drink to Britain. I enjoyed the Series. It got me thinking about beer. What are you all drinking out there? I would love to try a variety of Beer like James and Oz did in their series of programs. However living on the prairies does not afford me such opportunities. I am pretty much left with Sleeman Honey Brown, Fort Garry Dark or perhaps Alexander Keith's Cascade Hop Ale.

May I ask, what do you prefer?

For my birthday, I got about 35 different beers and those are what's left.

Some of my recent favorites are:
Dominus Vobiscum Lupulus - Microbrasserie Charlevoix (Very expensive, I would never buy for myself)
Estrella Damm Inedit - Damm S. A.
Big Ben - Brasseurs Du Monde
London Pride - Fuller Smith & Turner

Most of my favorite beers are from QC microbreweries because they're the ones that are easy to get around here. However I would like to try more beers from all over the world.

As for the more commercial beer, I actually don't like the Sleeman Honey Brown at all, but the Sleeman Cream Ale is pretty good, especially since it's so cheap. As far as readily available beer goes, my favorite is Sapporo. Stella Artois is pretty decent also, and so is Alexander Keith's (red). Coors Light and Budweiser (but specially Coors Light) are unacceptably disgusting and don't qualify as beer.

Fun fact: I have never left a beer unfinished, except the last third of a Coors Light, once. It's disgusting, especially when it gets warm because you drink it slowly because it's disgusting. When you have no other choice, be sure to drink it quickly. It gets worse as time passes. Godspeed.

The problem with my favorites is that part of me likes a safe bet, but I also really like trying new tastes, so I rarely revisit my favorites. I do however have a second bottle of Estrella Damm Inedit though, because my mom knows I liked it the first time around.

It's funny because I occasionally get strange reactions when people learn that I like to try beers. People with a lot of wine are connoisseurs, but a dude with a lot of different beers is probably a drunk! :P.

this is my favorite - fuller's vintage ale.
It only sold once a year with limited numbered bottles. Each year has a different taste also if you drink it one day, you try it again say 3 months later it will have a different taste.
That is also including temps will affect taste too.
http://www.fullers.co.uk/rte.asp?id=66

GID Lions Winter Ale. When they are around I buy a bunch.

Some more that I love
Harp
McEwan's Scotch Ale
Smithwick's Irish red ale
Murphy's Irish Stout
innis and gunn (All flavors)
St Peters Honey Porter

More to what I like.

+1 , pretty much the only stuff I drink these days (and for like 13 years lol), quite like it. haven't really spent the time to find anything else.

I pretty much now only drink the non-pasteurized micro beer, and being in New Brunswick there are only two brands I can get. Downside is they have to always be kept refrigerated. I was in NS last week and got some Picaroons that they had kept in the back room unbeknownst to me, and God was it awful:(

I usually keep 40 to 50 bottles of my favorites on hand, and they're kept at a temp of 2 degrees

My favorites are from

New Brunswick, Picaroons:
Dark and Stormy night. As the name suggest very dark.
Timber Hog (Stout)
Gideon James Amber, originally a Kings Landing made beer
Irish Red
Blonde Ale
Door Yard Wheat

PEI: Gahan
Iron Horse Brown Ale
Sir John A's Honey Wheat

I also keep a couple of these on hand as well

Picaroon Man's best friend (Bitter)
Melon Head Different type beer.
104 Regiment

lately i have mostly been into porters. Philips Long boat Chocolate and Mill Street Coffee Porter are a couple i have been drinking that are great. when i go out to the pubs in vancouver i usually settle on guiness since many of the pubs only sell default varieties.

being from alberta i always loved big rock mcnallys which is their signature beer that not many people drink and is near impossible to buy outside of alberta. it is one of a few irish ales made correctly in the world ever since Britain enforced a minimum alcohol law which forced ales to be weaker over seas. because of this very few people like mcnallys because they do not recognize what it supposed to taste like.

in my travels to britain i usually drank Stella. While in London you quickly realize it is not really an english city anymore. the population are mostly foreign in the central districts and the main beer sold is fosters. while there i stayed at the Sofitel which has the St.James Bar. Definately one of the coolest bars i have ever been to. they sold only the special or aged varieties of alcohol. so the stella there was not the stella sold everywhere else. was also a great place for scotch as all their stock was 25 years or older.

remember liking a micro brew in the airport at twin cities waiting for a connection, do not remember its name. great place to try micro brews on tap for a reasonable price is the Alibi Room in Gastown. which reminds me i really like The Backhand of God.

My favorite beer is from the unibroue brewery. La Fin Du Monde is what I almost exclusively drink right now. I did enjoy Trois Pistole, but my local beer store stopped selling it, wish they would stock additional unibroue as well.

They have some good stuff there. The Blanche de Chambly was my favorite beer for a while and it's still up there. That said, drinking exclusively La Fin Du Monde seems pretty expensive, unless you drink it very occasionally. It's also one of their best. La Maudite is very good too.

I live stumbling distance from Parallel 49 and Powell St Breweries... It's dangerous!

My current favorite is Phillips Monkey Drummer. It's a nice 12% that tastes like a strong 6.5%.

I'm 1 block from the Kitsilano Liquor Store...and just around the corner and down two blocks is the new BC Liquor Store on W. Broadway & Arbutus.

I spend too much money there...

I love New Castle on tap. I can settle for bottled though.

While its technically a cider, I drink Strongbow or "adult apple juice" as I like to call it. I'll usually go through six bottles every two weeks or so. It's great over ice on a hot day!

NCIX should add a voting/polling feature to the forums. So we for in this case vote on everyones favorite beer. And other cases vote to see what is everyone's favorite computer peripherals or other things.

My case +1 For Honey Brown

Everyones pallet is different as far as "taste" goes, and since my taste buds don"t function like they once did I pick the cheap stuff. Laker Lager.
They were one of the breweries advertising $1 a beer couple years back till Daddio McGuinty stuck his nose into our personal lives again and raised the minimum price. Still pretty reasonably priced but the $1 a beer campaign was golden.

I get really bad heart burn with anything to acidic tasting, if that makes sense. Can anyone give me a decent suggestion as to what I could get that would be easier on my tummy?
