You've got me wrong.

MKULTRA is an example of CIA using its own citizens and even ours, as test subjects, while ignoring their basic human rights.

There really was no conspiracy theory behind it, but there are plenty of conspiracy theories based on it.

It's similar to how the US government has setup GITMO and network spy centers. Do they violate basic human rights and US' own laws? yes. Are they a conspiracy? No, what they are doing is building a huge middle finger, right in front of your eyes.

Well yeah, MKULTRA is not a conspiracy theory it's just a conspiracy fact.

You people are so brainwashed that the instant you see the word "conspiracy" you immediatly associate it with the word "theory" and then with UFOs and so on.

Not every mistake or crime against humanity committed by a government is a conspiracy, you know... That's mostly our problem here. The fact that military secrets are not released to the public is not conspiracy fodder.

When you think about it, a lot of it has to do with the fact that most people quietly consent to atrocities.

See I find that interesting because the paper suggests that the annual income of the 100 richest people, all billionaires obviously, could end poverty 4 times over. You continue reading, and you find out that the annual income of the 100 richest people adds up to 240b. If you read the sourced paper, no where does it explain how you can END POVERTY WITH 60 BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.

60 billions of dollars to end poverty in the world... Let's say a conservative 2 billions of people live in poverty (it's more than that), then we can SOLVE POVERTY for THIRTY DOLLARS PER PERSON.

Did you even read your article and think?! Does anybody f'ing think anymore? Let's not even talk about how you can't just yank money out of the financial market without breaking everything, I can't imagine anybody's able to read that kind of language at this point.

Of course not. Just the big stuff are conspiracies.

Well of course you can loosely use the word "conspiracy" if 2 civil servants decide to steal a chair from the office. But people typically use the word to talk about meaningful events, or about a move toward a totalitarian State of some sort.

Given that you clearly don't understand economics, I don't know that I trust your usage of the term "conspiracy".

How about wars? Aren't all wars conspiracies at least by the agressor?
So human history must be full of conspiracies and conspirators.

I have no interest in arguing with someone who screws with semantics to try to get the upper hand by confusing the argument. If you insist on using a pathetically loose definition of the word conspiracy, you're just making the term inoperative and I won't play the game.

No point in even talking about this if you slap the word on every objectionable event.

In fact, what is the big difference between a conspiracy and a grand strategy?
Have you ever read the Project For a new American Century?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century

This was written prior to 9/11 and it demanded a new Pearl Harbour to justify all the regimes changes that happenned afterward is is still happenning now.

Do you realize that WWI was really started by ONE gunman?

No country was ever involved in starting the war, but it took the actions of just ONE GUY to spiral out of control? Then there was the fact that every country, except USA, had its own allies elsewhere.

Why bother reading wikipedia? That entire conspiracy theory is played out by Deus Ex 1 10+ years ago - Majestic 12 destroyed the Statue of Liberty, blamed it on anti-government forces, then used that attack as an excuse for world domination.

Just one event to stun the populace into shock, immediately followed by blind submission? That video game you can buy it off Steam right now.

Yanno, I've already read a "conspiracy theory" about the Pearl Harbor attack itself. That one traced the attack all the way from US-Japan dealings before and during WWII. Top brass in the US military even knew an attack at Hawaii was bound to happen. They simply did nothing because they knew they could turn the surprise raid into something else in their favor. USA could easily beat Japan while it masturbated, so why did it not start until 1941?

Merely saying there is an outside threat and 'we need to do thisandthat to protect you from these outside threats' does not work in controlling public sentiment. You must first weaken their suspicions, that's why we have shock events like Pearl Harbor and 9/11 - and it's only when the public is running bat**** scared like flocks of sheep fleeing over a wolf whistle that you can make them do everything against their best interests.

This is why we have DMCA, Patriot Act, the TPP, and the latest SOPA/PIPA-derived bills being tabled out at Congress and Senate.

God damn, you ARE a nutcase... not a very intelligent one at that.

I've already encountered a few of this type of folks elsewhere.

Whenever they lose an argument they bring up, they immediately change the subject or claim you are wrong.

Amokläufer isn't very bright.

That's an outrageously oversimplified way to look at the reason for WW1 actually. It's how it's taught in schools because the assassination of Franz Ferdinand was the tangible event that started everything.

The assassination was the trigger, but the real reason is that the various European empires wanted to expand. Had this assassination not taken place, something else would have been the trigger.

Governments send out people to die. God sorts out everything afterwards. That's how it works.

When people have bad luck, they start praying to god, not because they believe in god but they are actually looking for a scapegoat. "*****someone's screwing me, it must be the all powerful god almighty, better beg him to stop..."

I like the saying "there are no atheists in trenches". People who are soiling themselves on the front lines clearly are afraid of going to heaven after they die :)

Isn't the proper saying "there are no atheists in foxholes"?

In addition "There are no atheists in foxholes" is not an argument against atheism, it's an argument against foxholes.

Right, foxholes. And you're right but I've seen it used by Christians who tried to argue that atheists will inevitably turn to religion in time of need. Ironically enough, I think it's the religious of people who are in doubt when they think they might die :P
