...or untie, if you happen to be a dyslexic overclocker.

Attention all Canadian computer enthusiasts and overclockers! Are you ready to heed the call of your country?

HWBOT.org is once again hosting the Country Cup - an overclocking competition that pits nation versus nation. Last year, thanks to some great teamwork and a solid effort, Canada finished in a tie for eighth place.

But I know we can do better! This year's competition features some very specific requirements with some very specific hardware. Your country needs you, and frankly, we need all the help we can get! Think you got what it takes?

Here is a brief description of each of the overclocking stages in this year's competition:

Stage 1: 3D Mark 11 Trinity Full-Out
- We need one (awesome) score for this stage
- Any FM1 or FM2 setup is allowed
- Discrete graphics are allowed, and so is Hyper Crossfire
- So, anybody got an awesome 5800K/7970 rig?

Stage 2: 3D Mark 03 Nvidia SLI Challenge
- We need three (amazing) scores for this stage
- One score each for GeForce 7000-, 8000- and 9000-series cards in 2x SLI
- Single GPU cards only (no GX2's)
- Any CPU platform is allowed

Stage 3: LGA1155 / LGA2011 BCLK
- We need three (incredible) scores for this stage
- Any CPU is allowed
- Crank that BCLK up as high as it will go

Stage 4: AMD SuperPi 1M
- We need five (outstanding) scores for this stage
- Need scores from five different AMD sockets - so the more scores we can hoard, the better

Stage 5: Low-End Nvidia Vantage
- We need five (radical) scores for this stage
- Run 3D Mark Vantage using the Performance preset on any of these cards: GT 220, GT 320, GT 430, GT 530, GT 630

Stage 6: LGA775 SuperPi 32M
- We need five (bodacious) scores for this stage
- Need scores from five different LGA775 CPUs - so like the AMD stage above, the more the merrier!
- Any LGA775 CPU is allowed
- Anybody with a DDR3 LGA775 board will have a bit of an advantage here

For more information about the HWBOT Country Cup 2012, please see here:
http://www.hwbot.org/competition/country_cup_2012/

All competition stages are now open, so let's get benching!

Oh yeah, here's a link to the competition background you need to use in your screenshots to participate in the competition: http://hwbot.org/blog/wp-content//countryCup2012.jpg.

If you sell the i7 960 and say - hypothetically - an MSI X58 board and 12GB of Corsair RAM, you could put together a nice E10-5800K rig to go with that 6870 for Stage 1. Just as a completely random example.

*looks over shoulder*
Are you stalking me? lol
I've thought about switching to AMD as my system is mostly used for gaming anyway. With a 6870 in there would it be worthwhile to switch over to the 5800k in your opinion or should I stick with what I have? I know over all I'm probably better off with the 960 but from as gaming perspective whats my best route to go without spending much extra cash?

6strings - I'm not qualified to give you an opinion I'm afraid. I know little about gaming performance generally, and nothing about gaming on Trinity platforms.

m00se - Absolutely - check out Stage 3.

Aye, you should! Stage 3 is calling your name... see how high you can crank up your BCLK. It doesn't have to be stable; just stable enough to take a screen shot and generate a CPU-Z validation link. Here's our current SB score: http://img.hwbot.org/u33115/image_id_869970.jpeg. Can you beat 106.34?

I have the following machines:
I7 875K 16GB of DDR3, 6970, 6870
E350 APU 8 GB DDR3, dedicated graphics
A8-3870K 16GB DDR3, dedicated graphics
Q9400 8 GB DDR2, cheap passive video card (This is my file server)

Also have quite a bit of older AM2 and LGA775 hardware, nothing very good. Also have a couple spare 6870's.

Anything worth it for me to chip points into?

Really wish I had kept my water test bench running, would take me a few weeks to get it back up and running. If everything would even still work.

This reminds me, I keep forgetting to to do some Stage 3 (2011 BCLK) / Stage 6 (775) submissions.

Forget no longer! We are definitely going to have to keep filling in the blanks and improving upon the scores we've already posted if we want to hang onto top spot! Those Europeans love to sandbag, so we've got to build up as much of a lead as we can.

I've still got a Q6600 lol. It's not a b0 stepping though so I'm certain there are 6 other people in Canada who can get a better score. Also I'm not home until Dec 15th. Which doesn't leave much time.
