any word on their power consumption? I know the 1600X is 95w while the 1500X is 65w.

Ok, all I know right now is? Ryzen is limited to around 4.x GHZ (4.2 is pushing it) Every 100 MGZ, over 4.0 GHZ, and it gets scary. Like a 100 xtra watta at 4.0- 4.1.
yeah, Ryzen has some bugs to work out.
- 4.0ghz OC ceiling
- memory speed glitches
- incorrect temperature reporting (wonder if that has anything to do with the OC issues...some alarm goes off and interrupts)
looking forward to see how it works with RX Vega.
Lets put some perspective on this. Not one, (1) Ryzen R3,R5, or R7?.....has been marketed at higher than 4.0 GHZ. Im thinking more and more?...its a limitation of the core (CCX) design. I've done more digging and (cant find the stupid paper)... it seems the "Zen" core is good for 3.3-3.6 GHZ.
4.2GHZ, all cores, is totally pushing to hard. Im beginning to guess 3.7-3.8, all cores might be ideal for this architecture?
hmmm. well, Nehalem suffered clock speed issues, too, did it not?

Nehalem was like 2009. Ancient history. What? How can you compare 2 cpu's, 8 years apart. One being 45nm and the other being 14nm. Thankfully they are worlds apart. My crap dog FX-6300 is faster than an I7 920. However, I will say 3.0 GHZ was a tough go for the I7 920.
I'm thinking, I just might wait for Zen II. My crap dog 6300 at 4.5 is still able to push my new Rx480 along quite fine. Sure, there's a bottleneck there but it ain't that bad. It is what it is?...a weak quad core equivalent that cost me $109.00, 4 years ago. I already had the water cooling, thank god.
I'm basing my assumptions on AMD significantly improving the original Bulldozer to Vishera performance, being released 1 year apart.
Reason I bought a Rx480. 9 months ago, it was a bad deal? Today? Amd, has managed to close the gap between a GTX 1060 and a 480, from 12-15% to 2%.
I rest my case.
.....as usual. HardwareCanucks, to the rescue.
Cal, my comparison is that they are both first gen processors of a new, unproven and badly optimized platform.
age nor manufacturing process wasn't really being referred to.
craqzy though. 32nm and we're at 14 - 10nm manufacturing now!
Yup. Ok, didn't mean to bash you. You are totally right. The similarities are there. That being said? AMD, is actually a little further ahead than Nehalem was.
So, Clarkdale came next the following year, or was it westmere? .....and then the "Famous Sandy Bridge".
I'm actually quite begoggled that AMD, actually pulled this off. They're like 1/50 the size of Intel, and they pulled this off. AMD, is executing very nicely right now.
.....and right now, today?
