I would like to know what would be an eligible order. I've tried different items in my cart, some heavy or some light but the ups pickup doesn't seem to show up. Or is it GVA and GTA only?
I'd say you should really say, try it FREE*!
* Some UPS Stores are run by independent businesses, and will charge you to have packages sent to their address. So this "FREE" just cost me $5.
Same here, my local UPS Store also wanted to charge me $5. They said that it needs to be an "R-to-R" (retail-to-retail) shipment for there to be no fee and that my package was actually sent as a regular package addressed to the UPS store, which costs $5. They were gracious and didn't charge me anything when I explained that the retailer said it was supposed to be free.
Can somebody explain to me how do i check if my order is at the UPS store ? Who will notify me its ready for pick up ? DO i just go to the UPS store and start asking questions ?
There seems to have been a small hiccup in the new shipping option where some people are being asked to pay a $5 "parcel receiving fee". Note that there should be no charge to you and we are working to have this corrected right now. Hopefully it should be all cleared by the end of the day. Just contact the UPS pick up location later today and the charge should be cleared. Sorry for the inconvenience. :(
I had the $5 pickup issue. I did not pay, and spoke to NCIX about it. They know about the problem and are doing something, but I don't know what the solution will be. If they get it fixed, then I guess this is just a temporary issue. We'll have to wait and see.
Those UPS stores can be real jerks. I am worried that if NCIX tells us its fine, the stores might still dig in their heels. I certainly don't like dealing with the "independent" UPS stores.
Update: I went to the store again on the 13th and they released the package without the $5 fee. Most problems seem to be fixed going ahead, but those who ordered in the first week of March might have to pay $5 and them contact NCIX for a $5 refund. This message was modified by the poster at 03 13, 2017 10:38 AM
Hello, I just picked up my order at the UPS store and they charged me $5.
Will I be able to get my money back?
Not too thrilled with this UPS Pickup option!
Even tho it was said it's fixed, when I went in and picked up my order they charged me $5 dollars.
Really not impressed! I payed for shipping, so now I'm forced to pay for the inconvenience of picking it up?
Last time I use that option.
so if we go & get charged how can we get them to remove it? (I selected this option for my order from last week, although it doesn't appear to have shipped out yet- I did pay an extra $11 to get this...so I will not be very happy if I have to pay an extra $5) :s
Sorry again about the issue with the pickup fee being charged with our new UPS Access Point pickup order. It should all be resolved at the time and you should not be charged for pick up. With that said, sometimes things are missed so we do ask that if you do go to pick up your UPS Access Point and are billed the $4.99 pick up fee, please do not walk away empty handed. We will reimburse you. Just make sure to get a receipt. I've create a temporary group in our NCIX mobile app called "UPS Store Pickup". If you can send a message to us in that chat group, with your order number and a clear photo of your receipt, we can reimburse you with NCIX wallet money. If you have already paid and been in contact with us and sent a receipt, we're already working on a refund for you. Also, for those of you who do get billed and would prefer a refund rather than wallet money, we just ask that you kindly wait till Monday, at which time we can process the refund for you.
I was charged $5 on the dot this afternoon. It seems the UPS store's rationale was because it seems as if the package was shipped directly to the store hence the pickup charge rather than through the Access Point service which would not have incurred additional charges. I don't know if that's true but I just paid up since it didn't seem like he'd budge. This message was modified by the poster at 03 11, 2017 11:31 AM

My nearest UPS pickup location is an NCIX competitor. That could be awkward.
Having bad experience with this option. Ordered something on Mar 11 which was in stock. It's been almost a week, and it's still waiting to be shipped.
Same problem than spybeef here.
Ordered a single video card on march 9. We are now friday 17 mid afternoon and nothing was shipped.
My order was entirely processed that same march 9 day i ordered. It's now been a complete week of work days without any move on NCIX part.
24 hours ago i asked what was happening with my order, still no answer.
I have a 30$ mail-in rebate to fill upon receiving and testing the card. It's gonna be fun...
Just picked up something from the UPS store which was designated as the nearest Access Point. Didn't have to pay anything. But later, looking at the shipping box I noticed a large pink sign taped to the side. It read "$5 DUE AT PICKUP". Have no idea if this was simply missed by the clerk, or she knew not to collect the fee.
The local UPS access point here in Trenton, Ontario is an independent store, they charge for anything, and their parking is horrible (main highway/street through town, some side parking on a 45 degree incline hill (side road.) Being "physically challenged" (Older Veteran) that hill is nuts. I have a deal with my UPS guy to try and redeliver the next day. ( I am usually home.)
I have to deal with him when i do RMA's to Western Digital for server drives (I run 4 servers in my home for various stuff which have 10 drive arrays) and the first Time i went there with WD's instruction to have him print me off a prepaid label, he wanted to charge me 5 bucks. Nothing this guy does is free. I Usually did advanced RMAs but this time i had multiple Drives fail (4 over all thank the Lord I have redundant arrays, which come with a label already in the box. Multiple drive RMA are not eligible so now days I do individual RMA's if failures occur as well as have 6 to 8 Drives on hand for immediate swapping. > End of edit
My problem is my super saver does not show up as an option and this is the only "free option" I have available (that is not a store front in Toronto or Richmond. Other ground options are 15, 20 or more for an item that weights less then 4 grams(and yes I had one here to weight.)
So for me, I would like to still have the Super Saver option ( which I pay for) available to me.

700 points laundering, wow!
Horrible experience so far but not unexpected for UPS. I should have known better when it said UPS and free. Twice they failed to deliver, first saying "company or receiver name is incorrect" and again with "The receiver was not available"...
When I called UPS they told me I have to call the store (the access point is at a Hasty Market) and let them know there is a package coming, is this for real? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of using a UPS access point?
I created a UPS account and switched the destination to a UPS Store, I'm hoping beyond hope that UPS can find a UPS Store and maybe figure out I want to pick up the package there. If that fails, I'll just get them to ship it back and have it reshipped Canada Post, I'll gladly pay for it.
EDIT/UPDATE: Success! Picked up at the UPS Store. Peeling back the layers of shipping labels it looks like both UPS and the shipper made errors. The original shipping label had my name and the address of the closest UPS Access Point but did not specify that it was an access point, I can see how the driver was confused. UPS then decided on their own to deliver it to my home address the following day, surprise I wasn't home...the reason I sent it to an access point. That also explains the voice mail I got from UPS saying "This is name from UPS there was a, never mind found it *click*."
There was a label on the box to notify the shop assistant that this was a package for a UPS customer and to hold for pick up, should have been a clue for the driver but I can see how it would be missed as it wasn't on the same side as the shipping label, and couldn't have been due to the size of the box. This message was modified by the poster at 04 07, 2017 01:25 PM
