IPS display is pretty much limited to ASUS Zenbook or Retina Macbook Pro. Unless there are others out there I haven't noticed have IPS panels. This message was modified by the poster at 02 03, 2013 01:24 PM
They've only given general specs for these so I can't tell what configuration they come with. If I were to get more that is aligned to my specs will it break my 2K budget barrier (including taxes, shipping etc..)?
And I can't tell if it has long enough battery life? This message was modified by the poster at 02 03, 2013 01:31 PM
Under $2000, 1080p IPS, and 15" minimum? Haha, good luck finding one that has everything else on your books.
USB 3, Bluetooth and i5/i7 come from Ivy Bridge. HDMI can be done with adapters.
Scratch the SSD off your requirements list - install that yourself.
"extremely lightweight" and "min 9-10 hr battery with moderate use" do not mix. You either have a heavier laptop to have very long runtimes, or a light laptop that gives you 5-6 hours.
14" and over is not an ultrabook size... That's probably why you are having difficulty finding any.
Actually, this product you are looking for is currently not possible. It's most likely possible when ultra low voltage haswell comes around, with its 10W peak power draw, but there's no chance an ULV i3/i5/i7 can do it without having a massive battery due to their 17W peak power draw.
You would need 90Whr (approx.) battery, which is 9 cells, to get 9 to 10hrs usage (as opposed to idle) out of i5/i7. A 9 cell battery, doesn't matter if they are blade or cylinder, will weigh a good 500g.
