I ordered my EVGA GTX 680 at around 7PM EST on March 22nd, I wonder how long I will have to wait to get it (days? weeks?)

What time did you order Tyler? I received my confirmation k 6:13AM MDT and nothing. If it's backordered I'll just cancel the order, I guess I'll have to call.

Hey Entz, you were right, it was a typo. It shows 8+8 in the specs for both the air cooled Classified and Hydro now.

Launch day pricing is no longer valid. We may see a return to these price points when supply is more consistent, but we are the point now where all of the launch day allocation is gone and we are still very much in limbo about follow up shipments.

I was sarcastically saying that I didn't expect the post-launch price hike due to low availability :o
Edit: Not that I condemn it.

MSRP was $499.99 and thus I condemn it. My perogative.

NCIX wouldn't be what it is today if it turned its back on free profits.

You can condemn whatever you want, but I hope you're including NVIDIA, every board partner, and every distributor in that list along with NCIX.

Don't imagine for a second that NCIX's mark-up is the only one that exists on the products, and the only one that fluctuates depending on allocation and promotions (such as launch day).

At least make sure it's an educated condemnation :)

Linus I only was responding to what you posted here. As for other companies, Nvidia, etc. why would I bring them up when I was only responding to what you posted ? In regards to making an educated condemnation one does not have to see what others do in order to condemn one action. As for expecting a price increase heck I never even expected any company to meet the $499.99 MSRP ever and in regards to the new prices I guess they will be equal to the astronomical levels we saw posted on NCIX at first on the day of release where people had $599 and $600+ prices showing up in their carts and on pages for the cards.

And that's how science works. (lol)

What you just said, Devilzzz, amounts to "I don't need to understand what's going on, I can still judge a company based based on a partial understanding of the issues". You can condemn NCIX, but it's not justified because of conjuncture. You see, that's how businesses are run. NVIDIA and EVGA increase their prices, NCIX has to follow.

It's important for you to understand that it's very ridiculous to say "I can make an educated condemnation without being educated". (This is what you're saying).

I was wondering, I bought my MSi GTX 680 yesterday morning (11AM eastern time) and it said that there was 8 in stock. Now all I see is that it is back ordered! My order is processed but not shipped. :(

Will I receive my order next week? I don't want to wait too much...

DJZ there is free choice so NCIX and any other company could choose to continue to sell the cards at $499.99 and if there wasn't profit to be made by selling the cards at $499.99 they would not have done it at all in the first place.

As for companies choosing to bump the price up go ahead. Fine. It is their perogative. It doesn't mean that consumers have to like it. Nowhere did I hear that the $499.99 price was a promotional price the day the cards came out and to me that is wrong. That is the problem I have with the whole scenario.

MSI looks like it will be one of the more challenging ones inventory-wise, and you are pretty deep into the queue.

If you want to get one sooner, I would send a message to our customer care team and ask them to switch you to PNY. We have some PNY cards coming soonest that are not already spoken for. Should arrive early next week.

For any launch day orders, we will obviously still honor the launch day pricing on those cards at 499.99

NCIX buys the cards at a certain price. If EVGA increases the price, NCIX rises the price too, otherwise they make less profits because all the cards will sell anyway. And it's hard to dislike NCIX for it, because every retailer does it. Why would NCIX decide to willfully make less profit?

btw I am taking an Nvidia shirt and will be adding a catchy logo on it ... something like MOAR PhysX ... will share when it gets done

and I think I will look at getting some sticker kits and make some Nvidia promotional stickers to support better PhysX and Nvidia > AMD

as for buying one of these cards raise the price as it saves me the trouble of even trying to raise the cash to buy one ...

I guess the hard launch turned out to be a semi-flaccid launch. Here's hoping that TSMC has its production issues sorted out and these cards (the 680 and 7970 both) start appearing in decent quantities...

Looks like we're not getting the whole sandwich here on the performance of the GTX 680

Nvidia's WHQL Drivers for the 680 are nerfing it to PCI-E 2.0

Guess they don't want to kill AMD quite yet since SB-E motherboards are PCI-E 3.0 Ready.

http://www.maximumpc.com/article/news/whql-certified_gtx_680_drivers_limit_sandy_bridge-e_pci-e_20_speeds

EDIT : Basically what they're stating on this is DON'T THROW OUT THE DRIVER DISC!!! It's got the PCI-E 3.0 Drivers on it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MSRP means nothing. It's Manufacturer SUGGESTED Retail Price. SUGGESTED being the key word here. It is not a locked on pricetag. Supply and Demand dictates pricing. How would you know NCIX is making a profit? The first shipment of 680s were bought by NCIX at the reseller price of what $499 gives them. Now eVGA, MSI, etc. are raising prices now, so the second shipment is gonna be higher. Obviously, NCIX is not gonna eat the extra cost. The reason why eVGA, MSI are raising prices, is because they are trying to slow down demand, so they don't have to overwork their employees or start new factories. God, I don't want to give an economics lesson.
