Hey all,

I have this board with all the latest drivers i could install. Sometimes when I boot, it takes the LAN and/or WIFI about 5-10 minutes to actually work, all the while the windows system try says that I have "Internet Access"/ But I don't. Enabling and disabling the adapters does not help. Drivers are up to date from the ASUS website. Both WIFI and LAN malfunction at the same time.

So, Yesterday and today I got the blue screen hardware failure message, and I have no idea why. Once I got it on the desktop, and the other time I got it while playing Planetside 2.

So here's what I've done:

- Installed a new copy of windows fresh
- Updated my BIOS (Prior to having any issues)
- Intalled the newest nVidia drivers upon a fresh install of windows (310.70)
- Updated windows

My PC Specs;

Intel i7 2700k
16GB Corsair Vengeance RAM
MSI Geforce GTX 660 TI Power Edition
WD Caviar Black 7200 RPM drive w/ SSD Caching using Intel Rapid Storage Technology (60GB Intel 330 SSD (I think)

Help would be great! Here is a look at the error screen I got yesterday

Hate to say it but I think your in that grey area. You know you have a problem and need it resolved.

Highlight the web address and and go to it. If need be copy what you have here and log it with Asus. They are not infallible to bad parts. It sounds like your going to have to return for repair, but maybe ASUS can suggest another opion to you.

Ah, ok. See when it's working its awesome, I get 70mbps or higher on speedtest.net and can download 8mb/s. and when it starts working, it keeps working until a restart, which makes me think along the lines of software initialization. But how can I watch for that or see what's hanging the network connections up?

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but I'm connecting to a time capsule. My buddy seems to think that this is the issue but I see no reports online of apple routers being such a huge pain in the butt for pc's.

Try this:

*Note: Please install NVM update  Utility for Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet PHY Network Connection first before you update  this driver.
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=22026

Then reinstall the LAN drivers.

Ok I'm going to try that tonight along with a mcafee fix that could be blocking my Internet access. After more trouble shooting, I've noticed that I always get network, just not always Internet access (even when it says "Internet access" I don't actually have it by checking in a browser.

Furthermore, while gaming the other day I went I to my bios in EZ Mode and changed my power/performance settings to "extreme" instead of the default "normal". I've done this twice and every time I do, my system crashes after like 10 minutes of gaming and I get the blue hardware error screen like I mentioned in my first post in this topic. If its in normal mode I can game for as long as I want (tested for like 4 hours at least) with no issues or crashes whatsoever.

Is something not wired properly for me to get hardware crashes like this by just changing one power setting?? NCIX assembled this computer for me and I've trusted their skills but perhaps they've missed something?

More to come tonight about the LAN issue. I hope it's the firewall.

Cheers

just leave the EZ mode to normal.

In extreme mode, a number of things in BIOS are changed so that you can get higher overclocks, so there's no point using it in extreme mode if you aren't overclocking. In fact, extreme mode is for extreme overclocking, and you can overclock just fine in normal mode as well.

I suspect you BSOD problems might be because your RAM can't run in XMP mode, which is also enabled in extreme mode. Use advanced mode and set your ram to XMP, then try memtest with it.
